Posted - 24/10/2018 : 05:44:30 Authentic Mike Hughes Jersey , where each week I’ll wrap up all the news around the NFL that will affect the Vikings. And for a contending team, that’s usually a lot.***First off, before getting into any specific game action, let’s talk about the new tackling rule. Specifically, the amount of roughing the passer penalties that we had in Week 1. According to NFL Penalty Tracker, there were 15 roughing the passer penalties this week, which is the most in a single week since they started tracking penalties in 2009. And people have already started to raise concerns.Elsewhere, the Browns and Steelers played to a tie (?) and Le’Veon Bell still hasn’t reported. The Ravens beat the Bills 47-3. The Dolphins and the Titans played the longest game in NFL history. In the North...It was quite a week. I’m sure most of us tuned in to Sunday Night Football to see the Packers host the Bears, and...wow. A couple takeaways from that one: Khalil Mack is going to be a problem in the NFC North for a very, very long time.Aaron Rodgers can do some things. That fourth quarter was just something else.I don’t know if the Bears can come back from a loss like that. But Matt Nagy has a lot of weapons on offense, and the Bears look like they could make some noise in the division. We don’t know if Rodgers will play against the Vikings on Sunday. In other news, the Lions got absolutely destroyed by the Jets. Yes, the Jets. Even with a pick-six on the first play of the game, they couldn’t hang with a rookie quarterback making his first career start. Their defense looked awful, and the Jets could pretty much do anything they wanted in all three phases. It’s only been a game and we shouldn’t overreact, but the Lions looked as bad as any team in the NFL besides the Bills.Ex-Vikings quarterback reportWhat a debut for Case Keenum! Seattle might be primed for a down year, but Keenum helped lead the Broncos to a 27-24 win over Russell Wilson and the Seahawks to start off his Denver career with a win. Keenum threw for 329 yards and three touchdowns, although he did toss three interceptions as well. His TD throw to Demaryius Thomas, which proved to be the game-winner, was placed perfectly around a Seahawks defender. I’m wishing Keenum all the best, so it’s nice to see him get off to a good start while also taking down an NFC team.Meanwhile, Sam Bradford didn’t fare so well. The former Vikings QB threw for 153 yards with an interception and no touchdowns as Arizona lost 24-6 to Washington. Josh Rosen will continue to loom behind Bradford if he can’t win some games. And also in this one...Adrian Peterson, who used to do some things for the Vikings, ran for 96 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries. Contender alert!Despite a 18-12 win over the Falcons, the Eagles did not look good in the season opener on Thursday night. Nick Foles looked like the old Nick Foles, and they clearly miss Alshon Jeffrey. It’s also important to remember they lost both their Offensive Coordinator and their QB coach (the latter, John DeFilippo, is now the Vikings OC), so their offense could very realistically take a step back. On the other side of this game, the Falcons have a lot of problems. Offensively, Matt Ryan just doesn’t look like the guy who won NFL MVP in 2016. Defensively, the Falcons were already in trouble, and then they lost Keanu Neal for the season with a torn ACL.The Rams won their opener after a rocky start against the Jon Gruden-led Raiders, and the Saints were very surprisingly outgunned by Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Bucs in a shootout. As is usually the case, New Orleans needs to figure out some things on defense. Especially Youth Anthony Barr Jersey , you know, at safety. When there’s 10 seconds left. Alright, that’s it for What You Missed’s inaugural edition. Let me know if there’s other stuff you want to see here, and we’ll be back next week!Thursday Open Thread: September 27th, 2018 Good Morning! It’s Thorsday and game day?Yes, it’s time for that annual hate fest I have with the league schedule as I don’t care for Thursday night games but I will watch if the Vikings are playing, really this is one (of many) issues the Player’s Union needs to find a way to negotiate getting rid of when the next CBA rolls around in 2020.As we’ve all read in multiple places DE Everson Griffen is out for the time being, good luck to him as he gets the help he needs for whatever the cause is.The game starts tonight at 2030 ET and I think there are a couple of legal streaming options available for this game, I’ll be watching via Amazon Prime as I want to check out the play call of Andrea Kremer and Hannah Storm and I don’t want to watch on mute due to Troy’s sidekick yammering on and on about his hearthrob. In the meantime, while we’re waiting for the next Vikings game to start we’ll continue with our thread full of beer and rib recommendations, nap strategies, crock pot and smoker recipes.Have another cup of coffee and drop by for some fan wisdom and snark.Rams fan Ramsrock stopped by again this year, always nice to have great fans from other teams in our Open Thread. With that, let’s do this.Around the DN since our last thread:Chris has a spot where you can keep up with all the latest Vikings-Rams news.Five Good Questions from Turf Show Times with Joe McAtee and the Rams perspective on the game, Welcome Aboard Joe!One of my favorite weekly articles, Eric has his game preview with Vikings at Rams: Changing Perspective, while you’re there check out the GPOTW, this week a cheerleader, not a “pick.”From Chris, Hannah Storm and Andrea Kremer will make history as they’ll be the first all female duo to call an NFL game.
